Reception Area:

A warm and welcoming environment can be found through the front doors of Macungie Animal Hospital. The spacious, comfortable, and inviting atmosphere allows you and your pet to feel welcome and relaxed. We take pride in our hospital and want our guests to feel at home.

Exam Rooms:

Our exam rooms were designed with client and patient comfort in mind. These spacious rooms are where physical examinations are performed and client education is provided. The rooms are fitted with ergonomically designed lift tables, so you don’t have to lift your pet onto an elevated table.

Pharmacy:

For our client’s convenience, Macungie Animal Hospital offers a pharmacy on site. Our in-house pharmacy is stocked with medications and supplements so your pet’s prescription can be filled and dispensed during their visit. On occasion we may need to prescribe a less commonly used medication to a local pharmacy or a compounding pharmacy.

Lab:

Macungie Animal Hospital offers a comprehensive in-house laboratory equipped to analyze routine, pre-operative, and critical care blood work. Samples can be analyzed quickly and accurately enabling initiation of your pet’s treatment immediately. Unlike most hospitals, we can perform most endocrine testing and give you same-day results. Some of the tests we perform include complete blood counts, chemistry screens, electrolytes, urinalysis, fecal centrifugation, Total T4 levels, ACTH Stimulation Tests, and cytology. Pathology examination (review of biopsied tissue), microbiology cultures, cytology, and fluid analyses are performed by board-certified veterinary specialists at an off-site location.

Radiology:

Macungie Animal Hospital was the first animal hospital in the Lehigh Valley to offer digital radio-graphic imaging. Digitally enhanced radio-graphic imaging can be performed and interpreted in just a few minutes to assist doctors in diagnosing illness or determining an abnormality in a patient. A lead door and lead-lined walls provide safety to our employees when X-rays are being taken. MAH meets and exceeds all AAHA standards on radiology safety and compliance.

Treatment:

The largest area of the hospital was designed for efficiency, whether tending to hospitalized patients or treating out-patients. This open space has several treatment tables for medical and nursing care such as drawing blood, placing catheters, administering medication, carrying out treatment plans, and performing minor procedures.

Surgery:

The surgery suite contains a specialized ventilation unit to provide the highest quality and best dynamic airflow during sterile surgical procedures. This closed procedure unit is a two-table operating suite, equipped with the most advanced anesthesia and monitoring equipment. A skilled nurse closely monitors vital signs during anesthetic procedures to ensure the safety of your pet.

Surgical and Instrument Prep:

All surgical and medical instrumentation is properly cleaned and sterilized in this area. Cloth goods such as surgery drapes and gowns are washed separately and sterilized according to AAHA standards.

Enclosure Wards:

Hospitalized patients are housed in clean and comfortable enclosures. Cats and dogs are kept in separate areas in order to decrease stress and ensure the comfort of both species.

Rainbow Room:

This peaceful room, with a leather loveseat and soothing decor, allows family members to visit with a hospitalized pet, make difficult decisions, or say goodbye to their loved one. This room allows people to grieve and express their emotions in a quiet, dignified manner away from the clinical environment. A client has graciously donated a grief library in the name of her loving pet. Many books are available for loan.
